On the foothills of the Tenorio Volcano in the northwest area of Costa Rica you will find the Rio Celeste, Light Blue River, offering hot springs, bends of heavenly tranquillity and a waterfall of singular beauty, all surrounded by spectacular flora and fauna. One of the trails will take you to Los Tenideros of the Rio Celeste, the site where two streams of crystalline water come together and form the heavenly blue color that gives the river its name. The indigineous people of the area tell the story of how God when he was painting the skies dipped his brush in the waters of the river thereby giving it its' unique coloration.
